He has a well-manicured beard, and dark eyes which look intensely sultry. He wears a black turtleneck, worn black jeans with the right knee ripped out, and black combat boots.

Synopsis: Fundamental in giving a glance at the contents, it portrays the storyline perfectly. Descriptively erotic written tastefully. There is no warning of adult content.

Plot: Politics, corruption, betrayal, taboo attraction and eroticism are the focal point. The lives are portrayed with a realism as the Senator will do whatever it takes to bury his secrets, letting nothing stand in his way. Meanwhile, his son, Cain is dealing with loss, and life as an attractive gay man.

Main Characters: Senator Emmett Shaw has an agenda to get away with whatever he wants to protects his family, even from themselves.

Cain Shaw, the Senator’s son, a young man used to being told what to do by his family. Even if he doesn’t agree with the outcome.

Damon Fitzpatrick’s life is in shambles to the point he is assumed dead. Until he comes back to clear his name and give a little payback.

Secondary Characters: Lucy Shaw, the Senator’s wife. Cain’s mother who passes guilt and orders easily. There are numerous secondary characters who enrich the story.

Flow/Continuity: The story starts off rather slowly in a political scene but picks up fairly fast, as does the action. Erotic pleasures are measured throughout the story.

Conflict/Climax: The story was laced with political conflict and betrayal, eroticism that came throughout. The climax ended with truth and respect, as it was building in the story.

Writing Style: Written in third person. The characters were described well and with a talented imagination.

Editing/Formatting:  Well edited with a good formatting. The chapter headings were in a bold font and easily noticed. The first word of the new chapter started with a larger font in capital.

Price reasonable: $1.15 or Euro 0,99 For the quality of the story and the content, I would say that is more than reasonable for a new release.

Conclusion: The Senator went about things the wrong way, but he is a politician. Lucy was a brooding, manipulative mother, the kind we all love to hate. Cain’s character grew stronger in the book, so I felt like we were reading of him maturing. Damon worked out his frustrations and anger, and found someone he could trust and love. In this story we become involved in and part of the characters’ lives as they grow while we read about them.

I feel if I had known this continued on from a previous book, and read that one first, the beginning of this story would have made more sense.

I give this 9 out of 10!

Sometimes the shortest distance between ruin and restoration, between lies and truth, is the long way.

Damon Fitzpatrick’s life is in ruins. Vilified as the pilot responsible for the plane crash that killed Levi and Charlotte Seaver, Damon lost everything – his reputation, his livelihood, his family, and his future. And Damon knows exactly who to blame – none other than powerful Senator Emmett Shaw, the criminal mastermind behind the crash. No matter how long it takes, Damon is determined to get justice, and to get his life back.

Cain Shaw is the poster child for success. As the young, rich, handsome son of a picture-perfect family and the face of his father’s conservative political campaign, he has a bright future ahead of him. But the senator has been hiding secrets that threaten to crack that flawless facade – secrets he’s killed to protect. Cain is determined to make sure no one else gets hurt, even if it means keeping his own long-held secret.

When Damon’s quest for justice goes awry, Cain becomes the older man’s unlikely savior, and the two are thrown together in a hunt for evidence that will free them both. But as the road gets longer, the stakes get higher, and the danger that stalks them draws closer, they must find the strength to trust one another… because the one complication they can’t outrun is each other.
