Cover Art: The cover is bright, vivid and very festive. A scene at home, in front of an unfocused background of Christmas tree. Two men are featured, smiling and happy. A young man in a red checkered shirt is handing a present to another man in a white shirt while covering his eyes. It feels safe and homey; the warm and cozy cover makes me ready to curl up and read.
Synopsis: The synopsis tells the second chance story of Pierce and Rhone concisely; the first sentence had me hooked. It was well written and really spoke to me.
Main Characters: Pierce and Rhone, high school sweethearts and soulmates. This is one of those books that leaves you with a cavity at the end! All kidding aside, the love and desire they have for each other practically leaps off the page. The kind of love and passion that leaves you envious when all is said and done.
Secondary Characters: Maria, friend who runs a single parent group
Grams, Pierce’s Grandmother
Solid, comforting and accepting, Maria and Grams are lovely characters and fully supportive of Pierce and Rhone.
Plot: Pierce is returning a place he called home for a short year in his childhood. Mapleville is the home of his grandmother and his first love Rhone. He is on his own and pregnant; acting as a surrogate father to a couple who backed out of the contract. He is ready to do it on his own, but will he have to?
Flow/Continuity: At a bit over a hundred pages, the book moved at a good pace, and nothing was found that interrupted the flow.
Conflict and Climax: There is not an ounce of conflict in this book, the road to the climax sweet and happy.
Writing Style: The book is written in alternating first-person point of view. Each chapter is labeled as to who is speaking.
Editing/Formatting: There were no editing issues found. Formatting is okay; text is single-spaced with double spaces between scene changes.
Conclusion: A beautiful Christmas story about true love and soulmates, Christmas with his Omega was the perfect novella to read cozied up in front of the Christmas tree. So very simple, it really warmed my soul. Pierce and Rhone have a love that will stand the test of time.
I give this sweet read a 9 out of 10.
