Cover Art: This cover is awesome. It is full of dark, rich color and has a bit of spookiness in it. The use of the color orange was striking. The artist used the bright orange shade in the title and the two men in the upper part of the cover. I like the use of the models on this cover because the artist made the ones in the upper corner mirror images of each other. He or she continued the use of the model from previous covers giving this art continuity.
Main Characters: Ronan and Tennyson are a cop and psychic working team and now married couple who solve cold cases. They complement each other. They have more adventurous sex in this story and they are fully taking advantage of their honeymoon period.
Secondary Characters: In this new addition to the series, most of the minor characters are not new. The recurring characters are the friends and coworkers of the couple. The newest minor character is Jude and his addition gives the story some funny scenes.
Plot: This book’s story line is different to the other books in this series. A convicted felon asks Tennyson and Ronan to reopen his case. I liked that the story was different because it added more depth to the series.
Writing style: Ronan and Tennyson’s newest adventure was decently written. The narrative was well constructed and alternated between Tennyson and Ronan’s point of view. The dialogue was funny and executed with skill. I think that the author did a wonderful job with the young children’s short dialogue. I liked the sexual content in this story. The author had Tennyson and Ronan get a little more adventurous in this book.
Conflict/Climax: Tennyson and Ronan came into conflict with the case. Ronan acted without Tennyson’s approval and that action causes drama. It is dealt with in a satisfactory way and the lovers are not long mad at each other.
Conclusion: I think that this book was my favorite in the series. I could not find anything to complain about. The story line was interesting, and the characters were funny and real.
For all these reasons, I award this a 9 out of ten stars!
